The Unforgiving is the fifth studio album by Dutch symphonic metal/rock band Within Temptation, to be released by Roadrunner Records on March 23, 2011.
The album is released alongside a comic book series and a series of short films, to encompass a concept story. The first single, Faster, was released on January 21, and the first short film, Mother Maiden, was released on January 31.
Reviews have been very positive so far. One of the album points that have been always praised are Sharon’s voice and the bands’s capacity of innovation. Nathan Scott of Metal Marketing said “Whilst its certainly a change in pace and direction for a well established band, its nonetheless one of the best albums I’ve had the pleasure of listening to in a long time. Less emphasis on choirs, more emphasis on rock’n’roll, this marks a turning point in the long standing career of Within Temptation.” From him, the album received 9.5 out of 10. In another review, it’s said that “The progress lies in additional heaviness and rediscovered love to metal, rock and pop of the 80s.”

Personally from the clip the goth angle has slipped to the background a bit but man I just love that song, very addictive and Sharon’s voice is awesome as usual. Something very Paradise Lost / depeche mode in this sound me thinks.
