One hot up-and-coming band that caught my eye recently was Ode to Laluna. Coming across as a mix of Within Temptation style symphonic metal and some of the neoclassical dark wave bands such as Mortal Love, they are as yet unsigned by one of the majors which if you are reading my usual observations you will know this is obviously a complete scandal – just who is in charge of the A&R locally these days – do we need another local R Kelly guys? Try something different for once if you ask me.
Ode to LaLuna consists of Yue – Drums, Iah – Guitar, Sin – Bass, Selene – Keys, and Ishtar – Vocals – an all-female band that looks and sounds the part. They formed a few years back but with their debut album, Moonbreak coming out next week this is really the first big-time offering for fans and the general public alike.
The album launch itself will be held on August 6th, 2011 at the aptly named Hades Bar near Timog Ave., Quezon City (Manila to the international viewers). I have a fresh copy in my hands now and it sounds very promising indeed. Look out for a full review shortly.
Gates open at 7.30 pm and the cover charge is P100 you get a beer with that so that is a good deal to me along with a stellar lineup of some of the local’s finest metal fraternity including S.I.N, Badburn, Sanctus, Oremuz, Even, and Anhura
