FiiO SNOWSKY Anytime Review

Wireless Performance

Bluetooth 5.4 delivers strong wireless performance on the SNOWSKY Anytime. It supports simultaneous pairing with two devices, and switching between them is seamless.

I tested this feature using my iPhone 14 and MacBook Air, and the connection remained stable even when actively switching between media and calls.

In real-world use, I found the range to be quite good. I experienced no dropouts even when moving around 15 meters away.

Latency in Normal Mode is already acceptable for video playback, but when doing YouTube latency tests, I found that switching to Game Mode reduced the delay by about 0.1 to 0.2 seconds.

In this mode, audio and video stayed perfectly in sync, making it ideal not just for gaming but also for watching movies and streaming content without distraction. Call quality via the onboard mic is decent for casual use, though background noise can affect clarity.

FiiO SNOWSKY Wind

Technical

Since the FiiO SNOWSKY Wind is a traditional pair of wired headphones, I paired it with the SNOWSKY RETRO NANO wireless DAC/AMP for feature parity.

The SNOWSKY Wind is a pair of on-ear headphones that feature a 40mm dynamic driver with a semi-open design, a sensitivity of 106 dB, and a relatively low impedance of 32Ω, making it easy to drive with virtually any device.

Paired with the Retro Nano, I found it was able to maximize the wind’s sonic performance without any issues

The SNOWSKY Anytime is a pair of wireless on-ear headphones with a closed design. Like the Wind, it uses a 40mm dynamic driver that has been specifically tuned in line with FiiO’s years of experience in the audio space.

Since it is a pair of fully wireless headphones, its sensitivity and impedance ratings are not publicly listed.

Design

According to SNOWSKY, both headphones’ designs are inspired by retro audio devices of previous decades, but it’s obvious that between the two headphones, the Wind is the one that took more retro-inspired design cues.

The SNOWSKY Wind features a stripped-down, minimalist design that leans into utility. It uses a slim metal headband connected to plastic yokes, with circular earcups that attach via a simple but functional swivel mechanism.

My black review unit, paired with vibrant orange earpads, offers a bold, fashion-forward contrast that stands out without being overdesigned.

Subtle branding elements like the “Born for Music” text and the vented rear grills add just enough character, while the overall construction remains lightweight and deliberately no-frills.

Compared to the Wind, the SNOWSKY Anytime combines modern lifestyle aesthetics with only subtle retro touches.

It features matte plastic earcups with a fingerprint-prone mirror-finish accent, soft brown synthetic leather pads, and a steel headband with swiveling yokes for flat storage.

Unlike the Wind, the pads aren’t removable; however, they remain comfortable and breathable. The overall design feels clean, stylish, and well put together, and more in line with current consumer electronics design trends.

Both headphones proved comfortable during my testing, but I found the Wind more comfortable on my head because of how light it is.

But considering its wired tether to the Retro Nano I had in my pocket, I preferred the less restrictive setup of just using the Anytime.

Performance

The SNOWSKY Wind has a bright, treble-forward tuning that leans aggressive and can become fatiguing over longer sessions.

Its bass response is noticeably restrained, lacking both sub-bass extension and mid-bass weight. There’s little in the way of rumble or punch, making instruments like kick drums and bass guitars feel recessed and lacking in impact.

The midrange is relatively clear but suffers from a slightly grainy texture, especially noticeable with string instruments and piano. Vocals, particularly female ones, tend to edge into sibilance, further emphasized by the elevated treble.

The top end is sharp and often dominates the overall presentation, bleeding into the upper mids and giving certain tracks a harsh or metallic edge.

In contrast to the Wind’s sharp and bass-light presentation, the SNOWSKY Anytime offers a more balanced and listenable tuning. Its sub-bass reaches deeper and adds welcome weight to modern genres, though the impact remains soft and lacks tightness.

The midrange is recessed and somewhat hollow, especially in male vocals and acoustic instruments, but it avoids the same level of sibilance issues found in The Wind.

Treble is still energetic and can get slightly peaky, yet it’s more controlled overall, lending clarity without overwhelming the mix.

While neither headphone is a benchmark in resolution or technical ability, the Anytime’s smoother, fuller tuning makes it the more forgiving and enjoyable listen across longer sessions.

Koss KPH30i

Technical

Just like the previous comparison, I paired the KPH30i with the SNOWSKY RETRO NANO DAC/AMP to give a better point of comparison against the Anytime.

The Koss KPH30i is equipped with a 30mm dynamic driver and a semi-open design, presenting an impedance of 60Ω and a sensitivity of 101 dB SPL, making it easy to drive with virtually any device.

Paired with the Retro Nano, I found it was able to maximize the KPH30i’s sonic performance without any issues.

The SNOWSKY Anytime, in contrast, is a fully wireless on-ear headphone with a closed-back design. It features a larger 40mm dynamic driver, custom-tuned to reflect FiiO’s tuning approach honed over the years in the audio industry.

As is typical with wireless models, specifications such as sensitivity and impedance are not officially disclosed.

Design

Just like the SNOWSKY Wind in the previous comparison, the Koss KPH30i also sports a vintage-inspired design but opts for a more subdued color palette. It incorporates a suspension-style headband and soft foam earpads, providing a comfortable fit for extended listening sessions.

Compared to the Koss KPH30i’s distinctly retro and utilitarian aesthetic, the SNOWSKY Anytime leans into a more modern, lifestyle-oriented design with just a hint of vintage flair.

It sports matte plastic earcups accented by a glossy, mirror-like ring that adds visual interest but easily picks up fingerprints.

The brown synthetic leather pads, while non-removable, feel soft on the skin and remain comfortable for extended use. A steel headband and swiveling plastic yokes allow the cups to lie flat for easier storage.

Overall, Anytime’s design feels more refined and fashion-conscious, better aligned with the sleek, minimalist styling of today’s consumer tech products.

In practice, I found the KPH30i to be more comfortable. Aside from weighing less, it also had less clamp force. I also preferred the fabric-based Yaxi Pads that I paired with the KPH30i since it was significantly more breathable and gave better on-ear comfort.

Performance

The SNOWSKY Anytime offers a fun, V-shaped tuning with a deep sub-bass extension that adds satisfying low-end weight, especially for an on-ear design.

However, its bass leans more toward soft impact than punchy precision, with limited texture and mid-bass presence, leaving some genres sounding a bit hollow.

The midrange is the weakest area, with recessed vocals and a lack of clarity and separation in acoustic or layered tracks. While upper mids have some lift that helps female vocals and certain instruments stand out, the overall presentation feels compressed and lacks natural tonality.

Treble brings some energy and sparkle, with crisp cymbals and respectable detail for the price, though occasional sibilance can creep in.

In contrast, the KPH30i offers a much more balanced or warmer tuning. Its bass has better extension and impact, adding fullness to tracks across various genres. It also has better bass tactility and texture, giving individual bass hits more detail.

The mids are a standout strength compared to the Anytime. Despite the mid-bass to low-mid warmth, instruments and vocals are well-articulated, making it excellent for vocals and acoustic instruments.

This gives it a better sense of instrument separation as well, since the added detail helps in distinguishing the different instruments.

In line with its warmer tuning, the KPH30i has much less treble energy than the Anytime, but this contributes to a more relaxing and pleasant sound quality that I prefer.

My Verdict

The FiiO SNOWSKY Anytime is a feature-packed wireless headphone that delivers solid everyday usability at an attractive sub-$50 price point.

With Bluetooth 5.4, active noise cancellation, excellent wireless range, and class-leading battery life, it offers impressive value for the budget-conscious listener.

Its lightweight build, fold-flat design, and comfortable fit make it an easy companion for commutes, casual listening, or simply keeping ANC on while working or traveling.

That said, its sound quality leaves room for improvement. The V-shaped tuning brings energy and impact to pop and electronic tracks, but it lacks midrange clarity and detail, resulting in vocals and instruments that can sound recessed or unengaging.

It’s not the most refined listening experience, especially for those who prefer a more balanced or natural sound.

Still, for users prioritizing convenience, modern features, and a sleek, stylish design over critical listening, the SNOWSKY Anytime makes a strong case at this price point.
