The FiiO SNOWSKY Anytime enters a crowded wireless headphone market seeking to offer the convenience of Bluetooth and active noise cancelling at a price point well under $50.

Known for their more youth-centered audio products, such as the Wind headphones and ECHO MINI DAP, FiiO’s SNOWSKY is no stranger to delivering high-value audio

To see if Anytime can reach its goal of delivering a convenient, affordable, and high-quality set of wireless headphones with Y2K visual flair, read my full review and comparisons below.

Features

At the core of the SNOWSKY Anytime is its pair of 40mm dynamic drivers that have been tuned in line with FiiO’s years of experience in delivering high-performance audio while balancing it to the tuning preferences of general listeners

Similar to many wireless headphones and IEMs, the Anytime comes with support for Bluetooth 5.4, delivering lower power consumption and higher performance, despite only supporting SBC and AAC codecs.

With dedicated game and music modes, this also gives the Anytime low enough latency to make it suited for gaming and video-watching use cases.

In line with delivering premium features at a more affordable price, the Anytime also comes with both Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency modes, boosting its versatility as a pair of headphones that you can use in a busy coffee shop or during a walk in a busy city center.

Design

The SNOWSKY Anytime’s design walks the line between lifestyle minimalism and subtle retro flair. Our Matte Black review unit features a sleek mix of materials and finishes.

The earcups are made from matte plastic, giving them a premium in-hand feel. While the mirror-finish ring adds visual pop, it is also prone to fingerprints and feels slightly hollow. The SNOWSKY logo is discreetly printed on each cup, contributing to a clean, unfussy look.

Aesthetically, it doesn’t scream audiophile. Instead, it fits seamlessly alongside other lifestyle electronics that remain low-key, modern, and arguably stylish.

The black plastic housing contrasts nicely with the brown synthetic leather used on the vented foam pads, which are plush and breathable. Unfortunately, the pads are non-detachable.

The headband is made of solid steel with plastic yokes that swivel 90 degrees, allowing the cups to lie flat for storage. A padded synthetic leather strap on the underside provides long-wearing comfort without pressure points.

It’s a thoughtful design, clearly targeting younger or casual users who value both form and function. While not luxurious, it holds its own in terms of build quality and aesthetic cohesion at this price point.

Comfort & Isolation

Weighing just 155g, the SNOWSKY Anytime is impressively lightweight, making it easy to wear for extended sessions without fatigue. The swiveling and tilting earcups do a great job of naturally aligning with your ears, requiring little adjustment to get a secure fit.

That said, the Anytime is still an on-ear headphone, which means there’s no escaping the sensation of the pads pressing directly onto your ears. Fortunately, the plush foam and soft synthetic leather used here keep things from feeling overly fatiguing, at least in cooler conditions.

On warmer days or during outdoor use, however, the leatherette wrap tends to trap heat, and I did experience some sweat buildup after an hour of continuous wear.

The Anytime’s passive isolation performs about as expected for an on-ear headphone. Ambient noise, like conversations or air conditioners, still leaks through. However, the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) helps elevate its practicality.

With ANC engaged, I noticed about a 70% reduction in background noise, making it much easier to focus or enjoy media in public spaces. I often left ANC on even without music playing, as it gave a level of isolation comparable to some closed-back over-ears, minus the bulk and cables.

FiiO SNOWSKY Anytime ear cup controls

Controls

The SNOWSKY Anytime features a well-designed physical button layout that’s both intuitive and tactile. The power button handles several tasks: powering the unit on and off, initiating Bluetooth pairing, play/pause commands, and activating your voice assistant (such as Siri or Google Assistant).

A separate volume rocker controls up/down levels and doubles as the next and previous track controls via long presses. A dedicated ANC button cycles through noise canceling, transparency, and standard listening modes. Double-pressing this same button toggles between game mode and music mode.

Each mode change is accompanied by a female voice prompt, helpful for confirming what setting you’re currently on without needing visual cues.

The buttons themselves are tactile and clicky, with distinct shapes and spacing that make them easy to locate by touch.

Placement is logical, and after just a few hours of use, the layout becomes second nature. In daily use, I never found myself accidentally triggering the wrong function.

Battery Life

Battery performance is another strong point for the SNOWSKY Anytime. It comes equipped with a 500 mAh battery, which SNOWSKY rates for up to 58 hours of playback with ANC off, and around 35 hours with ANC on.

In practice, these numbers hold up well. With ANC toggled on and off throughout the day, the Anytime consistently delivered 5 days to 1 week of moderate use before needing a recharge. There’s no advertised quick charge feature, but the battery drain is gradual and efficient.

I never found myself worrying about the charge level of the Anytime before leaving my house. Its larger battery capacity gave me the confidence to know that the headphones were unlikely to die on me in a situation where I could not easily charge.

Packaging & Accessories

The FiiO SNOWSKY Anytime comes in a compact, glossy cardboard box that features stylized artwork of the headphones up front. Inside, the contents are kept minimal but neatly arranged. You get the headphones themselves, a short USB-C charging cable, and a user manual.

Being a portable-focused pair of wireless headphones, I would have appreciated the inclusion of a small hard shell carrying case or cloth to provide some protection when storing the headphones in a bag.

However, given the price point that Anytime is attempting to target, this omission is reasonable.

Sound Impressions

All listening comparisons were done with the Anytime in its music mode. Listening was done on my iPhone 14, M1 MacBook Air, and SNOWSKY’s RETRO NANO dongle and the ECHO MINI DAP.

Since I do not have other similarly priced wireless headphones, comparisons were made against the SNOWSKY Wind and Koss KPH30i, which were also paired with the ECHO MINI.

Summary

The SNOWSKY Anytime is tuned with a fun V-shaped signature. Bass and treble are elevated, while vocals and mid-range string instruments have a muffled and compressed presentation.

While it lacks the resolution and dynamics of pricier headphones, it delivers an enjoyable and non-fatiguing sound for casual listening.

Bass

The sub-bass extension on the SNOWSKY Anytime is impressive for such a compact on-ear design. It delivers a surprising amount of low-end reach with a strong sub-bass that hits deep. Thankfully, this bass never veers into bloated or overwhelming territory.

The presentation leans more toward a soft impact rather than a tightly focused punch. It lacks the texture and tactility you’d find in more premium headphones or well-tuned IEMs.

On tracks with fast or complex kick drum patterns, the Anytime tends to render them in a flatter, one-dimensional manner, without the layered details that are easily distinguished on more proficient headphones.

Mid-bass performance is a bit lean. Bass guitars and low-end rhythm sections come across with less authority, and in genres like funk or disco, this can leave tracks sounding a touch hollow, missing the warm, groovy weight that anchors the rhythm section.

Mids

The midrange is arguably the SNOWSKY Anytime’s weakest point sonically. While the overall tuning leans toward a safe V-shape, the mids feel noticeably recessed.

Vocals, especially male voices, tend to sound flat and lacking in weight or authority. There’s a certain hollowness in the way the Anytime renders string instruments, where strums and plucks blend together rather than standing apart.

Harmonics and resolution in the midrange fail to show a clear sense of space or separation that helps each instrument breathe. In more layered acoustic tracks or orchestral sections, this can make the presentation feel compressed and undynamic.

That said, some lift in the upper midrange gives instruments and female vocals a bit more energy and presence.

Here, the resolution sees a modest improvement, offering a clearer sense of edge and detail. But overall, the midrange lacks the refinement, engagement, and natural tonality that more capable headphones can deliver.

Treble

Treble performance on the SNOWSKY Anytime walks a fine line between clarity and sharpness. Cymbals have a crisp, airy presence, and hi-hats come through with good sparkle, helping balance out the subdued midrange and leaner bass response.

Detail retrieval is respectable for a headphone at this size and price point. It manages to present enough high-frequency information to keep things engaging, especially in pop and electronic tracks.

However, the tuning isn’t without flaws. On some tracks, the Anytime can exhibit moments of sibilance where “S” and “T” sounds in vocals become noticeably sharp or fatiguing. This isn’t a constant issue, but it does crop up depending on the song being played

Overall, while not the most refined or smooth treble presentation, it’s energetic enough to keep the sound from feeling too veiled or dull and adds a needed sense of space to the mix.

Soundstage & Imaging

The SNOWSKY Anytime falls short when it comes to imaging precision. Its limited resolution and lack of harmonic depth make it difficult to separate individual instruments with clarity.

In denser mixes, elements tend to blur together, and there’s a noticeable absence of layering across the sound field. This results in a somewhat smeared stereo image, where pinpointing exact instrument placement becomes a challenge.

Still, it’s not without redeeming qualities. Directional effects like sweeping movements are well executed, lending the Anytime a sense of dynamism that works well for casual gaming.

The soundstage is decently wide for an on-ear headphone. It offers an open and roomy presentation that will likely feel expansive to listeners used to the more intimate staging of typical IEMs.
